The 1990 season was one of fierce battle. Senna and Prost had spent 1988 and 1989 driving alongside each other at McLaren, taking one championship each. In 1990 Senna remained at McLaren and Prost left for Ferrari. Just because the two stars of the era were no-longer driving for the same team meant by no means that the fight would get any less robust. If anything, the two fought harder. By the end of 1990, the two drivers were split by only 7 points. 71 for Prost, and 78 for Senna! The Brazilian would take his second World Championship, beating his French rival to the title after they infamously collided, again, at the Japanese GP.
